You know what you have isn't exactly what you like or we wouldn't be discussing this.

SC Medium Heavy is equal to Dobyns Heavy so power is subjective. Action fast or extra fast is another difficult factor to define. What isn't difficult is the higher the power and faster the action the more exact your casting motion needs to be, it's unforgiving.

If you use spinning tackle your casting motion is more of a snap cast and that will cause problems with baiting reels that require loading the rod more to smoothly launch the lure.

For this reason a lower power and/or slower action helps with casting. The issue is the slower moderate action reduced bottom contact feedback. To complicate all this is differences between rod makers. 

I know Dobyns rods better then SC, both are excellent. Dobyns DC734C is his best selling all around bass rod.
