Dorado
Going to San Diego for about 4 days. Driving from Phoenix with my gf. Any recommendations for catfish and bass fishing from shore? Also, for ocean charters? How’s the yellowtail fishing been? Thanks BR community in advance!

Super User WRB Posted June 23, 2020 Super User Share Posted June 23, 2020 Look at WON news published weekly for reports on local ocean charters. Tom

Super User JustJames Posted June 23, 2020 Super User Share Posted June 23, 2020 I’m not sure where to fish in San Diego but you might drive pass me on the way down. Do you plan to camp, RV? We do have campground here in Canyon Lake with full hookup, right by the lake about 40 bucks per day. Are you staying until next Wednesday? My gf and I are leaving tomorrow and staying until Sunday afternoon. We are just staying at hotels and doing a mix of salt and freshwater. So far, we’ve booked a Full Day trip at the Coronado Islands for some yellowtails and contemplating Santee Lakes since we both dig catfishing, especially her. Super User JustJames Posted June 23, 2020 Super User Share Posted June 23, 2020 I checked campground yesterday and all booked until Fourth of July. We have our own firework and that campground is the best spot to watch, unless you are in a boat. My day off is Tuesday-Wednesday, and I work night, otherwise I’ll have you here fishing for those crappie and catfish.
Dorado
@Bass_Fishing_SocalDude, that is really cool of you. Since our dates don’t align, do you take rain checks lol? I’ll PM you next time I’m in CA and we will have to meet up and fish together. Thanks again for the nice offer!
Super User JustJames Posted June 23, 2020 Super User Share Posted June 23, 2020 Anytime man, there are plenty of catfish and crappie here that you might enjoy. I think you can do a tent at campground too, there is bathroom to use. It is a lake front campground that you can fish from Dock all night (without resident).
camman
Another option is hit up San Diego bay for spotted bay bass
skekoam
Give J street a try in Vista for some spotties. Also try Lake Murray in SD for some LMB. I've only heard about the fishing at both spots and it is supposed to be pretty good. There are other LMB lakes producing too in the SD area like El Cap.
