Front rod locker tackle storage solution?

Featured Replies

I typically keep all my tackle in the back two compartments on my 08 ranger z21. However, when traveling I'd prefer to keep them locked under my additional safety, the lock r bar. I've seen a lot of people use the big center compartment for their tackle but I really prefer to keep my rods there. It keeps them from hanging into each other. What storage solutions are out there for putting 3700 sized containers in those front left and right rod lockers?

How about another locker bar for the back compartments?  Not familiar with the particulars of your port & starboard rod lockers, however, I'd guess that if the 3700 size boxes don't fit for some reason, get boxes that do, stack them in as best you can and call it a day.

I don't believe they make a lock r bar that fits the back deck, plus, it'd be a lot of work. You'd have to cut into the boat and modify some type of existing lock r bar model.

You have to drill into the boat when you put one on the front deck, it would be the same principle on the back.

Why not just take everything out for the night wherever you are staying and leave all the compartments unlocked. I've seen it where people use those bars and some crack head uses a demo pry bar to pop it loose, they provide a false sense of security.

Witnessed the damage to 4 boats the night before a Tournament at a hotel, they caught the guy later, because he bought a digging bar from a home depot down the street that evening and matched the description when he fled in his pickup truck, with a bed full of rods and tackle, leaving the new  digging bar behind tags and all.

I was referring to the part in bold. Sorry, I was just saying that technically you could put one wherever you wanted.

Did you do the cutting into the fiberglass yourself? Did the standard bar fit or did the holes need to be modified?

The dealer installed them when I bought it.
