Oh no oil!

Did my routine maintenance yesterday (new sparks plugs, changed water fuel separator, and lower unit oil) to my Yamaha Vmax 150 Carb. Anyway, pulled it out of the garage the morning with the cowling off and ran it for about 10 minutes as I flushed the engine to make sure their were no fuel leaks/oil leaks.

To my dismay I noticed what appears to be very small amount of red oil between the manifold and crankcase. I hope it is only the manifold gasket. It is on the other side too. I wiped it with a q-tip as the engine ran it would start to seep ever so slightly. Below is a picture of it. Please tell me I don't have warped manifold or crankcase is warped. Opinions?

I don't think that is normal although I could be wrong. I would defenitely check the manual on the torque of those bolts and make sure they haven't loosened up any. If they are at the correct specs I would take it to the Dealer and let them deal with it unless you just want to try and change the gasket yourself.

Note: I really don't know what I'm talking about, but it sounds good.

The engine looks very clean so the oil seeping through is recent, if the engine were dirtier then that oil would have been seeping through who knows for how long, I don 't think you have damaged anything yet but you do need first to check those bolts ( they may not be tightened up properly, they may be loose ) or  if they are ok then the seam could have broke. Either way, better have it checked at the dealer.

Still under warranty??

If so dont touch it and take it in.

Its a 2003 with 58 hours, so no warranty.  I bought it with very little hours and I just did the first scheduled service on it myself. I will check out the torque on the bolts though.

That looks more like the Gel-Seal they put the case halves together with to me.  It's common for some squeeze out when they assemble the halves.

BINGO, my engineering neighbor said its Gel Seal also. Explains the red color.
