I usually throw tubes on 10 or 12# line on a baitcaster....never considered them light line lures.  ?‍♂️

I only have two truly light line techniques that I have faith in for bass.  The first is a Ned rig with various plastics and fished with the Swim, Glide and Shake retrieve.  The second is the drop shot with a YUM Sharpshooter, Kill Shot, or ZOOM Tiny Fluke.

 

I fish both on a 6'10" Medium Light rod with a 2500 series reel.

I fall in line with you and many others and am basically fishing all the same baits. Been doing it a long time like you also. 
 

I throw a lot of 6# vs. the majority of you guys. I’m a Shimano 2500 and a St. Croix guy. For the most part.

I looked at the Dark Sleeper and they were way smaller than I ever envisioned them. They wanted $5 for one and I could see myself losing it.

Me too! Except I use 14 or 15lb. fluoro and a MH baitcaster. Land way more smallies and safely release them since I'm not fighting them for 5 minutes.

Back in the day, 8# line on a medium action spinning rod. My primary lures would be 1/8 or 1/4oz. ball head jig with a 3" grub (Mr. Twister or Kalins) or a Sassy Shad, Blakemore Roadrunner, #3 Mepp's spinner or a 1/4oz. Rooster Tail. Oh and a Beetle Spin anywhere from 1/6 to 1/4oz. Panfish love those 1/6oz.

 

Now, medium action spinning rod, 2500 sized reel w 15 or 20 pound braid to a 8# flouro leader. I still throw those ballhead jigs with grubs especially in rivers. I like a 4" grub now. NED rig, and drop shot. On the drop shot I like a robo worm or a 4" senko typically.

I fish tubes on spin tackle for LM bass, much like Guido Hibdon fished them years ago. I've done best on the thin single wall tubes, as opposed to the thicker double dipped style.

Mobasser, I actually still have a stock of Guido's thin-walled tubes from back in the day. I do throw those on spinning tackle like Guido did but my usual target is Great Lakes smallies and they prefer the thick-walled tubes. Plus the zebra mussels that cover the rocky bottoms will shred your line so you need to use thicker, tougher line.

I don’t love fishing lighter line, but I’m working on doing it more often.

I’d say after the last couple weeks the flat worm is wiggling it’s way into a lot of tackle boxes.
