Are these a thing? I use white swim jigs...but what about a white arky?

White won't work, it looks too much like a shad.

Well that's why I asked if they are a thing...I didn't ask if they would work. Guess what I was wondering is why you never hear about guys using them. You can stop banging your head.

White is my only spinnerbait color and my best color for a Rage Blade trailer.

I like a white head on my Rage Swimmers, too.

I wondered about this, then thought white imitates shad. Shad don't feed on the bottom as far as i know. From what i know they roam in schools looking for various plankton.

Think "dying shad".

Years ago there was an article in In-Fisherman about white jigs. Was very interesting, talked about how in certain areas the crayfish go almost White when they moult, if only for a day or so, and how the bass like them at that time cause they’re softer. I used to use white flipping jigs when I fished tournaments in southern Ontario, and did pretty well with them. Even on the average day, it was as good as my partner with a brown or black/blue jig. For some reason I haven’t used one in a while, maybe I should give them another run this weekend. Thanks for the reminder Ditchpanda ??  

I've never used one but my local lake has lots of shad and now thru fall the bass are transitioning to feeding on them. I built one today and threw a white speed craw on the back...Will try it next time I go out.

I dunno man, bass eat some pretty funky colored baits! There are no shad in at least one place I fish. Maybe I will try this for fun. I have white Super Flukes I can hop around.

Back in about 2009 or so, at a local pond/lake we use to fish at, during the spawn everyone was using white jigs for bed fishing, and as I recall there were several good sized females caught on them.

 

I still have a some in 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 oz sizes. 

My last time out I had to break off a black/blue jig. I had a gold shiner pattern swimjig Cadman made for me tied on another rod. I put a black/blue Rage Craw on it and, much to my surprise, caught fish. I think if you put that jig in their face, on the drop, they'll attack it. But if you hop one that's the "wrong color" along and they have time to inspect it, the odds of getting a bite go down. But you know what they say. "Show them something they haven't seen" or don't see often.

Probably so they could see the bait when the fish picked it up. I know people like white lizards for that as well. I'll use a limetreuse Trick Worm on beds a lot.

Just yesterday I cought a  1.5-2lbs largmouth on a shad pattern jig I make myself. white with blue fleck bottom, white scale bars  on the sides and half tab of black on top with a white 4” twister tail grub for the trailer. The lake I fish has a major gizzard shad population. It’s been tough fishing the last week. Not getting a lot of bites. White will work if the fish are keyed in on Shad.

Steve Kennedy comes to mind, fishing a white jig and winning a lot of $. I use a white flipping jig a lot, with a white zoom super chunk trailer. swim it through any cover, flipping it, swim it through grass ...then drop it at the edge, skip it under docks. super versatile bait, you are missing out if all you do is flip your flipping jigs.

I use some smoke/white jigs that I put together too... it's a fall and winter jig for me... deadly during the shad spawn.   White or sexy shad pattern can be very good on a football jig.  During last winter, I used a football jig white/smoke with a smoke color drop shot bait as a trailer and got a lot of fish to hit.   

They can be deadly with a white Rage Menace rigged vertically, especially on the fall.

 You just don't hear a lot about white jigs being used for flipping, but they do work.

I use a white Arky jig a lot in the fall as a combination pitching swimming presentation.  I'll pitch it into cover, let it fall and then slowly swim it back to the boat if there are no takers on the initial fall.  Some days I'll get more fish on the initial fall and some days they only want it swimming, but I really feel that where the fish are positioned has more to do with which works better.
