Can't understand why people insist on running bad motor

That why I said I haven't seen them all.  That is the bypass valve and I've messed with a bunch of them, and that's the first for plastic   Crap like that I guess is why they finally quit making them.

Could have just been a bad connection and moving things around cleaned it up.  It could be bad brushes in the motor and intermittently making contact.  Since you have swapped relays, if/when it does it again, if's its still the down, you have a control wiring problem or a bad motor.  Next time, before doing anything else, try running the motor directly and see if it runs both ways.
