Daiwa Zillion SV spool bearings

Featured Replies

Are these bearings any better then say the Tatula line? These have dark grey shields rather than silver. Are these better bearings or just different?

They’re just different. Not any better or worse. Flush them really good though. They need it.

These shields come off?? How? I can't find a retainer to pop off. How to flush them?

They are pressed in and yes they can be removed . Takes finesse but dont do it if you dont know how to.

soak the bearings in acetone/lighter fluid. Spin test until the bearing comes to a smooth, slow stop.  I usually have to clean daiwa bearings a few times to get them clean. Add one drop of oil and reinstall.

You clean all bearings including the anti-reverse bearings?

Not when new, no. It isnt needed. I add bearings in place of the levelwind bushings and flush the 2 spool bearings

No need to open bearings to clean them. Repeated soaking, agitation and solvent changes will do the trick.

Perfect thank you. That's exactly what I did, used a baby food jar and 100% acetone twice followed by 70% isopropyl alcohol. I was surprised by all the little floaties!
