Anybody know anything about the All Star GT40X series of rods? Had them for awhile. Believe their Carolina Rig rods but I’ve mainly used them for pitching Texas rigs and jigs. Just wondering if they were made in the USA and if anybody had any information on them. 

Yes. Those were made in Texas. I have several. Have had them for 20 years. Still use them and like them

Very good rods. I am always on the lookout for the original All Star WR1s & WR2s.

I have a  All Star SJ2 Special Jigging telescopic 7’ casting rod. Love it! 

Look if it says made in Houston, Texas. Some All Stars were not made in the US, I think some of the Gt40s included. I have both a Team All Star 6'4" Spinnerbait rod and a 6'6" IM 10x Worm Rod 1, both great rods. 

BTW what craw is that ? That Brown/green pumpkin color is hard to find.

I’ve used the All Star Classic Series, like many others have stated the WR1 and WR2 rods were some of my favorite. Hard to find those anymore. I don’t believe these were made in Houston like those. That being said, they’re not bad rods but was considering parting ways and upgrading.. thanks for the input everyone.

That is a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw in Summer Craw I believe, one of my favorites

The other is just a ZoomZ Craw in green pumpkin 

I used Team All Stars after my Fenwicks from the 90s seemed outdated. They were great rods. I'd think they'd feel dated compared to what we fish these days, but very much still good rods. 

These days Academy Sports is the exclusive distributor for All Star rods - according to the Academy web site.  I don't think that they are owned by Shakespeare any more.  I've gotten an few of the Academy All Star rods on close outs and I like them.   They come in different colors.  The ones I got were purple.

The hard plastic butt cap is usually present on made in Houston All Star rods that do not have "made in Houston" written on them. 

 

I don't believe any foam butt cap All Stars are made in Houston/US.

These have a plastic butt cap! I’m just used to seeing the classic im10x series with made in Houston stamped on em! These don’t have made in USA or Houston anywhere on the rod, but I assumed they were!

Not to many of those out there anymore.  I would personally hold onto them if I were you.

Im a big fan of that vintage of All Star rods. 

 

Its interesting in that picture you also have a Castaway rod. I bought into the hype and purchased a couple of Houston made ones and was disappointed as both felt fairly tip heavy to me.

Yeah that Castaway in the picture is one of the new Skeleton Nano rods. I purchased it a couple months back, haven’t used it much so can’t really comment on the performance yet. I use to own a telescopic Castaway flipping stick and it unfortunately broke flipping mats. Curious to see how this new one is gonna hold up!
