Good morning, all.

 

Tomorrow I'm heading to Haines City, FL to visit my FIL.  I plan on buying a rod on Amazon and having it shipped down there.  I'll be taking a reel and some tackle.  Aside from terminal tackle, any suggestion on what may work best while I'm down there?  Not sure what waters I'll be fishing but it will most likely be pounding the banks.

 

Any suggestions?

Stick worm on a Carolina rig.

 

Bass in Florida are the just like bass in Ohio. So take what ever you like to use at home. Spinner baits, soft plastics & swimbaits, topwater hard & soft baits. jerkbaits, crankbaits etc. Just make sure you have some weedless baits to use if there isn't much open water. 

If you're leaving today, it might be too late to get answers. But I'd definitely take a lot of Senkos or comparable stick worms. When I went to FL I fished a lot with a Super Spook and a flipping T rig. That's about all I needed that entire day. I'd probably pack some spinnerbaits as well.

@Dwight HottleI was thinking more of the seasonal aspect of things. I read that they might be moving up to spawn in FL whereas they're still hanging deep here.  

Your correct on the spawning. In FL they start as early as late NOV and continue through the winter months. The cold fronts that migrate down contribute to the start & stop activity. 

Can’t go wrong with soft plastics worms or lizards in Watermelon red flake or June Bug. T-rigged and most of the time with a 1/8oz tungsten weight.
