Where to fish on Chickamauga

Featured Replies

I’m heading down to Chickamauga next week. Never been. Staying at Blue Water Resort in Dayton. Anyone know any good spots on the lake for bass in that area? Maps? Creeks? Hoping to catch a hawg! Thanks for any advice on location, tackle etc.

The whole lake is good fishing, you’ll see boats trying it all. The bass gets surprisingly shallow in winter, burning 2-4 foot mud flats with rattle traps is popular this time of year. Shallow water warms faster and that’s where the shad go

As in seagulls on the water? Main river banks any good? Or should I look for creeks or points?  Jerkbaits any good? 3 in rage swimmers?

Yes the gulls will be diving when the time is right, throw a spoon into the frenzy. Creeks vs main river is always dependent on all kinds of things, definitely try both . Jerkbait and swimbait are always good options for me, although I don’t fish down on chickamauga often. Lots of fish are caught there with jerkbaits

Be very careful water is very low. Stay in the channels.
