Yamaha SHO Advice

Featured Replies

I'm looking for advice on a 2012 Yamaha SHO 200hp motor.  I've had several Yamaha 4 strokes but I'm not familiar with the SHO's.  I've found a bass boat that I'm interested in. The boat looks great, I just don't know much about the reliability of the SHO, any advice wiuld be appreciated....Thanks

They used to have a power head issue’s but they got that fixed. Not sure about a 2012. Best advice I can give is have it checked by a qualified mechanic. They run great and have a awesome hole shot.

Has it been run for the last 8 years or sitting for the last 8 years?

Was the early SHOs the motors making oil?  I remember reading about that quite a bit when I was researching Yamaha engines.  I went with the F175 but they didn't make a 25" SHO in a 175 or 200 so I didn't study the SHO that much.
