Major Craft Nanoace vs Abu Garcia Veritas

Featured Replies

So, I’m looking for a new spinning finesse rod. My top two are the Major Craft Nanoace and the Abu Garcia Veritas. I’m open to other suggestions around the $100ish price range.

Has anyone used either rod? If so, how’d they preform?

My main hope for the new rod is sensitivity and fairly durable. I know in that price range you sometimes have to sacrifice one or the other.

I have Veritas for long time(old version), honestly they are Art and technology. But ive heard so much about major craft. just remember veritas always 1 power higher than what they said. if you order medium light, actually the feel is a medium rod.

That comes from my experience.

I have tried Abu rod once, don’t remember now which one but pretty heavy and stiffer than it’s rated.

In 100 price point, I’ll recommend Nanoace all the way, it is light enough, sensitivity is acceptable and pretty true to rated. Do you plan for M or ML?

I have 7’ Medium and pretty good for finesse fishing from Ned rig to probably Senko. ML 1/16-1/4 is perfect for Ned or light dropshot or weightless worm but will feel over load with 1/4oz weight or more.

I have half a dozen older casting and spinning Veritas.  Their build quality and sensitivity are very good @ $99 price point.  They run a little heavier than their rating.

Bass_Fishing_Socal I was probably thinking medium. Think I could still drop shot with a Med Nanoance?

I have no experience with the Veritas, but do have a few Nanoace rods and feel they are the best rods at their price point, at least in my experience that is. When choosing, just keep in mind the rods fish a little lighter than similar power ratings from other companies. For instance, I have the 6'9" medium drop shot rod and it fishes like a medium light.

Sure why not? Actually this rod reminds me of my old shimano crucial dropshot specific that I broke year ago. I still have ML crucial dropshot 1/16-1/4oz but I prefer this Nanoace M.

Are these the regular Nanoace or the Iovino special rods?

CThe difference between Iovino signature rods is specific action and a hook holder. Major Craft rods are heads and shoulders better quality the Abu rods.

I use NAS- 701MH spinning rod because I have a good Medium power legacy Phenix spinning rod and MH is perfect fo around spinning finesse rod using 5 lb Max UG or 7 lb Sniper.

Tom

PS, I sold over 20 rod/reels combos and kept Mc Splash-It casting rod and the MJ NAS-701MH spinning rod plus my custom ALX JWR rods.

Tom

PS, I can afford any price rod, performances what matters, not price to me.
