The only difference I can see in these lines is the green being more supple and the red as being more abrasion resistant. Other than, and the price, why would one be picked over the other. I was looking at getting some for cranks, TW, and jerkbaits.

Correct. Armilo (red) is great line. @WRB likes it, and that says a lot. I've never used the regular Defier (green), and the only person who I know that has used it hasn't said much to me.

   That being said, I'm still a major cheapskate. I'll stick with Big Game.             jj

 

p.s. - before you assume that there's a great difference in price, look at the yardage. The price per yard isn't really that much different.

I have tried both, and like both but I like regular Defier the best.  Armilo is a little stiffer but casts well.  I have been using it for swimbaits and regular Defier for cranks.

I think what it boils down to is stretch of the line. Defier has quite a bit more stretch and hence is great for any applications where this line characteristic is needed. I use if for big glide baits, big top water and also cranking activities.

Armilo has significantly less stretch. It is actually the mono with the least amount of stretch that I have encountered. 

If you prefer a line that floats, has little stretch, good sensitivity and is not braid, Armilo is a good choice. 

I use mine on my smaller topwater and cranking combos.

X2 on this.

One thing that I want to add.

Both lines are super smooth after spooled up, but their coating wears off rather fast. Which makes the line rougher and also increases the memory of the line.

Some line conditioner can counter this, just be aware that the line changes quite a bit in this regard after a couple of outings.

I always us KVD conditioner before each outing with flouro & copoly, so that won’t be a problem. Will the line still change even with the KVD?

Yeah, in my experience, the coating still wears off rather quickly. Memory can be somewhat addressed with line conditioner.
