GPS Heading Sensor

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm getting an Ultrex with iPilot Link, and 2 HB Helix 10 G3N...I've read the Ultrex comes with a GPS puck for the jog feature which I think I will use a lot.

To get heading on my Helix's, do I need another external heading sensor, or I can choose the Ultrex heading sensor to show heading on the graphs?

Not if you have the ipilot link.   You should be good to go

Went to BPS to check them out and I got to fiddle with the Solix...ugh...I may have to wait for the Solix G3N. The Helix G3N is $1600 on sale at BPS right now though....$900 for touch screen and a customizable map. Also, I read the Ultrex heading sensor only works when the TM is deployed because the GPS unit is in the TM head...so I may end up getting a rear heading sensor for the console.

Go ahead and put the asgps puck on.  It will be the most accurate for you.  I have 3 Solix units.  If I had do overs I would have Helix units.
When I switched to Humminbird from Lowrance I was used to touch screens so I chose the Solix.  One of them is in dash.  It has been back 3 times for repair.  One of the bow units had to go back because the touch screen quit working.

Now I  get gps lost alarms every trip.  I had the asgps puck changed out.  It didn’t help.  No one has any idea how to fix the problem.

The shop that does my electronics work says they have several customers like me.  The Helix seems to be the reliable work horse.

If you want the latest greatest the Apex is brand new.  There are good reads about Solix on ***.

I must have misunderstood your post. I thought you have the puck.

So after reading about power issues, screens, charts, waypoint management on the Solix's. I went ahead and ordered the older Helix G3N's from BPS since there's no changes that I would use (wifi).

I think you made the right choice.  I’d like to have do overs but too many bones already invested.
