Featured Replies

What do you guys got?  I have heard if theres one place you dont want to go cheap it is on your fish finder with gps.   I know they are expensive but seem to really be worth it.

Humminbird 383c Combo.  Its great, but I should have gone for the 500 series for more screen real estate.  In split map/graph mode, the screen is a little too small.

I got an Lowrance HDS 7.

The shaded relief feature for the map is really nice.  Also I can't wait for the SI to become avaliable.

When purchasing electronics, I try to leave economy out of the equation.

I much prefer to have separate units on separate wiring, and have never owned a combo unit.

I feel more secure assigning ONE job to ONE unit, moreover, if one breaksdown totally I'm still in business.

Equally important to me, is that I'm able to stay abreast of leading edge technology by replacing them one at a time.

I dont know much about them but did pick up the 595C GPS/Fishfinder color combo for $349 at Dicks. Its being discontinued. It was around 5 bills a short time ago.

I will leave it to others as to whats best. It works for me as an recreational fisherman who doesnt do tourneys or get too serious.

I've had my eye on the 597CI combo for a while. Waiting for it to go on sale.

Screen size, resolution and power should be your main concerns.  Color is always better and a bigger screen is always better, especially with a GPS unit.
