Inshore recommendations, S.C.

Featured Replies

I’m looking for recommendations for inshore fishing guides near Isle of Palm South Carolina. We want to take two young teenaged grandchildren for their first saltwater experience. Thanks, everyone.

A little north of Isle of Palms, but I definitely recommend...

Captain Jordan was great with my 10 year old nephew.  Didn't quite put us on as much fish as we would have liked, but it was August and a storm moved into the spot he wanted to fish and he had to rework his plan, falling back on old haunts.  He grew up in the area and knows it well.  Boat was comfortable for kids as well.

That’s a tough place to fish! I’ve done two weeks on my own and one guide trip, it all pretty much sucked! They say fall is the time to be there when the shrimp come in. Our guide trip was in fall and still sucked, too strong of tide. It’s always something at the ocean

Hey, Chris it’s great hearing from you. I certainly hope that between the nasty weather and the COVID, that all’s well with you and your family. I have backed away from fishing quite a bit. Since all my grandchildren are involved college and their own sports and activities, fishing with me had dwindled significantly. I sold my boat and have built a couple long range rifles that I compete with. After being sequestered at home for a year my wife and I have received our second doses of the vaccine. We’re excited to get away and see new territory. Thanks for the recommendation. May I assume that you have fished with this fellow? If so, how is he with kids? This is an entire family beach vacation and I’m not sure how many of the eight grandkids will want to fish. It’s ironic, just the other day, I ran across photos of us at Baccarac. I haven’t been to Mexico for three years and want to get in at least one more trip. I was told that Andy and Jeff still go yearly. They are booked for one in October. Be well, Chris. By the way, if you ever plan another southern bass trip and are looking for a tagalong, keep me in mind. Be well , m’friend...............Good Fishing.

Hey @Topwaterspook -- good as can be down here!  I haven't gotten on the water as much as I'd like either!

I haven't been back down south either -- the wife keeps finding new "projects" for us to spend on but I will get back by whatever means necessary.  Ha!  I'll keep you in mind when the wheels get put in motion.

Regarding the guide -- I have fished with him myself.  I've not had my kids out with him, but my close friend books with him every year and raves about how well he does with the kids.  He suggests you ask the guide to take the larger bay boat though, as that's got more room over the skiff.
