Walleye Wonder?

Featured Replies

I fish a reservoir that says it is famous for walleyes but I have never catched even one from there. I bought a lure I found called Walleye Wonder to see if I can catch some this year. My question is are you supposed to run a trailer on this lure? Also if so what would be a good trailer to use?

I looked up this lure because I was unfamiliar with it. It appears to be a spinner. In this case, you would troll it with live bait like a minnow or night crawler. If the panfish are pecking at it, switch to an artificial worm like a gulp night crawler. You’ll want to troll it fast enough to turn the blades. And since your after walleyes, get it a foot off the bottom.

Pretty much agree with gimruis.  I would add leeches to the list of live baits.  We're planning to go to Northern Ontario this year the first week in September.  I'll have to see if tackle shops carry them, maybe Walmart carry them around here and pick up a couple.  We normally use chartreuse 1/4 oz jigs tipped with nightcrawlers, leeches or minnows when anchored or drifting and troll various diving lures.

It looks like a knockoff Erie Deerie. You put a half a crawler or lip hook a minnow on the back. You can either lob cast it, slow troll it, or drift it.
