Question for shimano users

Featured Replies

I just got a few curado k and it came with these drops. How often are we supposed to use the oil and where do you drop them?

It depends on use.  On average, I usually clean my reels twice a year or if it the reel gets dunked in water (happens on my kayak too often).   This means I will oil the parts mentioned above once over the summer and then do a complete breakdown over winter if needed.

Be careful about overdoing it. As @FishTank said, once or twice a year is plenty.

I'll be curious to see how the K's hold up over the long LONG term after lots of opening for maintenance. I just cleaned mine yesterday and hadn't noticed that unlike the "I" series, the screws screw into the plastic side plate and not the aluminum frame.

Less is better than more. Easy to love our reels to death. We see bicycle guys do this all the time.

I fish Shimanos almost exclusively. Clean and oil at the beginning of the season. I have several that are decades old and work like new.
