I fish a texas rigged senko pretty often and definitely caught a few cats on that even though I was targetting LMB. 
 

Caught a few crappie/bluegill on a crankbait.

One of my goals in fishing is to actually catch something on a Johnson silver minnow with leech trailer like shown in on the cover of Fishing Facts magazine.

 

I even have the Uncle Josh's pork black eel trailer to give it a real shot.

 

But agreeing with Mobasser - white jig (or in my case white Road Runner)

 

@Everyone else - he said lure not bait, no cheating with live bait (minnow, worm, etc)

In my experience, a twister tail lets the Silver Minnow come through the water much better than the pork trailer does. 

5 inch paddletails, 5 inch stick baits, and topwaters like a Super Spook, tend to catch any predatory fish that likes to set up ambush points around cover.

 

And that goes for freshwater and Saltwater.

A small jerkbait, like an xrap. You can catch crappies, bass, pickerel, pike, trout, saltwater fish,

Agreed about this.  Walleye and northern pike too.

Another vote for the small marabou jig. I've caught everything on them including one of my biggest channel cats and my biggest carp. LOL

Two come to mind..... A Jig of some sort and an in-line spinner like a Mepp's

A Mepps size 3 inline spinner or a black 3 inch power grub. I have caught largemouth, smallmouth, cut-throat trout, rainbow trout, pikeminnow, and more in all kinds of different bodies of water.

#1 inline spinner... I've caught everything with a small Mepps

1/8 oz beetle spin for beginners and variety.    For crappie and bass, 2.75" and 3.25" strike king rage swimmers sexy shad. Beetle spins can catch any size bass and any size crappie and very large bluegill.

hellgrammite 3 inches catches anything here in Florida 

2 inch grub on spinning tackle and light line will catch big fish of every species in Nc

In-line spinner like the Mepps Aglia/Vibrax/Rooster Tail (size 0-3) or 1”-3” white single tail grub on a jighead (1/16th-1/4th oz). Will catch almost every species that swims.
