*What is your current favorite all - around 6'10" ~ 7' M/F or medium / moderate fast bait cast rod for top water (mainly) along with other treble hook and smaller swim bait finesse set ups ?

 

P.S. To Google "favorite 6'10" ~ 7' M/F bait cast rods" mainly brings up the Favorite brand rods (smart on the company's part - but not what I'm looking for) .

Really enjoyed using the 7’1 Medium evergreen combat stick topwater/jerkbait rod.   Paired it up with an SLX MGL and that combo is a blast to use.

When you say for top water I assume you mean motion baits like the spook, chug baits and the like.  For that the SC MXF is killer.  If you mean buzzbaits and other classical moving baits where the reel does the work I would choose something less fast.

*Great replies - I knew nothing about any of these rod suggestions and all all worthy of consideration for sure ! The Impulse Energy 6'8" Zell Rowland is now of particular interest (along with the 7' M model) for Spooks , Chug baits , etc.  .

I really dig the St. Croix Bass-X line for trebled reaction and top water baits. Their 6'8" Medium/Extra Fast and their 7'1" Medium/Fast are great for the purposes you mention. I have both as well as the 7'2" Medium Heavy/Moderate Fast. Can't beat em for $109.
