Bait fish imitators Vs Creature/craw imitator Lures and soft plastics

Today I was fishing and I did Texas rig craw style zoom just to practice and tune my new Antares DC, So I grab that just randomly. I cast about 1 hour and I didn’t get any bite. I always use soft swim bait there and most of the times, so I change to 6” swim bait and 3rd cast I catch fish.

I was thinking that I was more successful with fish/bait fish imitators more than craw style. I can say the only time of year I have luck with them is in summer, but any other time of year I didn’t have a chance with them.

I’ll set worms aside which they work year round.

do you agree with me? If not please let me know about your own experience.

It depends.

Not having any more information beyond the lures you were using, it sounds like your craw was under the fish, and your swimbait was right where it needed to be. Were you fishing them differently?

Location matters. Not just in GPS coordinates, but in terms of where the fish are in the water column.

Sometimes they're looking up and sometimes they're looking down...

The jig bite is usually either on or off, and this applies to t-rigged creatures and craws. Right now it's off here. I throw it some every time out to make sure, cause when it's good, it's GOOD.

Sometimes its all about the presentation that the fish want. While you can't fully determine that mood of the fish off just one bite, you are looking at two totally different variables here.

Your texas rigged craw bait is fishing slow on the bottom of the water column. While your swimbait is a moving bait that is higher up in the water column.

Just like people, sometimes you want to sit down and have a nice meal. Other times you're busy and on the go, so you grab something to go. I hope that analogy makes sense.

On the location in the water column variable. Try swimming a craw and jigging a swimbait and see if it's the lure or the location.
