I’ve been having fun slow swimming/dragging a craw/creature bait on a swing head jig in my ponds. It’s been a good midpoint between power and finesse. I can cover a ton of water in a short amount of time or I can pick apart an area and slow it down.

I just got a pack of swing heads and from what I learned its best when you bang it into rocks and stuff to make it really move. I bought some Rage Bugs and Cutr worms especially for this. Without stuff on the bottom to bang on do you think it is still effective?

I’ve got no rocks or hard bottom to speak of in my ponds - mainly muck and weeds. I’ve been paralleling the shore right along the drop off in some spots and right outside the weed line in others - both with success.

That's a good idea. One pond has a very clear weedline to work. I'm going to try that.

Thank you. It was very tough at first. Well for the first month really. But its gotten easier as time goes. 

Weightless swim tail worm with a spinning rod was around before the word finesse came to be. Still works.

I have a few different ones I need to try. Swimmin Dinger and Cutr worm for sure.

I just got a few new underspins and small swimbaits I'm going to try this with.

Try some 1/4 or 1/8 oz. maribou road runners. They actually do catch everything.

Ive looked at those for crappie and have caught bass on a road runner with a Bobby garland baby shad. Ive never fished a hair or maribou jig of any sort. They look great. What retrieve do you use?

No special retrieve...usually kinda slow with occasional twitches to make the maribou pulse some. But like anything- vary to get results.
