Why is Googan so overhyped? They have childish colors, their split rings are terrible, their soft plastics are not durable, why does everyone still use them. I understand why beginner fishermen buy from them since Googan is one of the first things you discover when you join the community because of its popularity, but some people who have been fishing for years still use lures/baits from them?

Why? Because I’ll try anything once to see if it’s the next GYBC Senko.

So far I tried:

Rattlin’ Ned. It won’t replace my Z-Man TRD’s

Krackin Craw. It won’t replace my Baby Rage Craws. It will do as a substitute if they are cheaper on sale or they are out of Rage Craws.

Blooper. It won’t replace my Rebel Pop-R’s

I will be trying the Rattlin Chunk and the Revolver sometime this year.

Googan is "overhyped" because they spend a great deal of money "overhyping" themselves.  They are selling like hotcakes due to the nature of American buyers.  I don't buy their products (although I do have a few packs of those Ned things with the rattles to try) so I don't have a dog in this fight, but if you feel they are not worth the money then let me ask you....how many Creme products do you fish with?

Creme Lure Company is the opposite end of this spectrum.  They have been producing quality baits/lures since 1949.  Some of their plastics have (IMHO) the best action of anything similar on the market.  What's the difference?  You don't see them plastered all over social media and they are the most economical (read that as "cheapest") baits on the planet.  All Walmarts carry Creme lures and they are cheap even by Walmart standards.  Whey aren't they always sold out?  For the same reason that Googan is popular.

Remember the old saying, "Lures are made to catch fishermen, not to catch fish"? Well, Googan simply does better at attracting that kind of customer.                         jj

If I was a teenager I would go nuts for the stuff just from the colors alone. I always look at the display when I go to Dicks to see if anything looks like it might catch fish or be a better version of something I buy. As someone old I just see loud colors and high prices for stuff that does not look like the quality matches its price.

I dont think anyone around here buys the stuff though. I regularly see the Senko, Rapala, Strike King, Etc displays depleted but the googan is always still fully stocked.
