Why there are three pumps in my boat?

Featured Replies

OK, I'm new for boss boat and yes, I got a old used boat. It's Fisher FS18. Anyway, it's running.

I'm trying to do some adjustment for the wiring of the boat, so I don't deplete the starter battery easily. Basically I want to the trolling motor batteries (I'm using two 12V 100Ah lithium batteries) to power most of the electronics, pumps, lights, etc.

I noticed that there are three pumps in my boat, while I only have two livewells, one on the back, one on the front. Do you guys know why there are three pumps here? Thanks to everyone.

Third one is probably the bilge.

The four types of pumps you tend to see on boats are bilge, livewell fill, livewell pump out, and livewell recirculate.

I was thinking of making a livewell for the canoe and  designed up a system using two electrically operated 3-way valves - one pump to do all three jobs. Then decided it was too much for the canoe, but the system would work on any boat.

Yeah, some pumps can do double or triple duty. Other setups have all individual. I think my Triton had eight separate pumps, lol.

5 bilge pumps? I never new Tritons leaked so much.  Just kidding bro. Get out there and fish...
