Does anyone know how to tell if Echomap covers large bodies of water? I've looked at Garmin's search engine (maps.garmin.com) but it doesn't look like any big water has data symbols.  I'm particularly interested in Georgian Bay in Ontario.

If it's in Canadian waters - you'd need the Canada maps which are on the 75/95 models - 73/93 models are the US maps (74/94 are Bluewater...ergo sea coasts).

You can add the Canadian maps to any other 7x/9x from a download - purchase the LakeVu Canada maps and follow the instructions on Garmin's site to add them. Note - it's $150.

I should have checked the quickdraw community first.  Most of what I need has already been mapped there.  But, do the normal GPS maps (not the fishing maps) stop at the US border so that I'll still need the Canadian package to know where I'm at?

That, I don't know.

You get the blank tan "it's a lake, good luck" color if you don't have the region supported on your card. However, you can make maps wherever you want and download then install mappings too.
