So I am leaning toward the Procyon LT 2500 at this point for the Victory 6'10"MLXF.

 

Any other suggestions?  I have read countless reviews on so many reels it's become nauseating and  I just need to decide.

That's alright. GAS is a chronic condition.

 

Also, in an effort to stay on topic, were I you, I'd stop my search right here because that 2500-size Procyon will be a banger paired with that rod.

Yea. If you don't mind paying for the Procyon, it's a no-brainer. 

I have zero issues with my Revros LT2000 and LT2500. Jus' sayin'

I owned a Procyon LT 2500 and it was a fantastic reel. I sold it ONLY because I wanted a Luvias FC LT and I had already spent the money I allow myself to spend on equipment. It was hard to part with it.

Really the only reason to buy a Revros, is if you want it for the shallow spool. 

And if the spool is what you're after, you're better off spending a few extra bucks on the BPS Carbonlite. BPS is notorious for putting them on sale at nearly the same price as a Revros, and you get the same shallow spool capacity, but also air bail, more bearings, and a direct thread handle.  

I watched a video on the 2021 shimano UItegra and I was really impressed: its looks to be an insane value:

I got the Regal LT in 2500, and it's a great reel! I have it in the 2500, and it's my main spinning reel for just about everything associated with spinning reels! And also the Carbonlite seems like a great value!

 This obviously isn't current (was this time last year), but it's not uncommon for the BPS branded stuff to go on sale.

Ive put a whole lot of 8lb+ blues and stripers to 16 lbs on my Fuego 2500 and 3000 in the wash and Ive never anything that I can say 100% is flex and I find it hard to believe a SMB can flex that reel with a reasonable drag setting.  The 2500 was bought shortly after they debuted and that reel has been beat to death and still going.  In fact thats the reel on my 6'10 Victory right now and it balances pretty well.

7.9 oz vs 6.7 oz though...if you want light, the Ultegra isn't the one you want.

I am sure the Fuego LT would have been fine but I am leaning toward either the Procyon LT or new Ultegra.  And good to know the weight at 7.2 balances well with the rod.

Yep - Just looking at the specs....The Procyon LT looks more in lines to my vanford 3000 with gear ratio etc..too.  It will be nice to have both reels close in most aspects.

All - Just pulled the trigger on the Daiwa Procyon LT 2500D-CXH  for a good price.

If you don’t already have the Victory VS610MLXF rod I strongly suggest going with Medium power 7’1” rod.

The tip is very wimpy and difficult to get a good hook set with, cost me a few good bass today?

You are killing me...  ?I got it a few days ago.  I am used to ultra light gear so hopefully I can manage.  Not sure what the return policy is where I got it.  I want to give it a shot first though.

 

I have the avid x 6’6” too MLF.
 

Keep in mind I typically catch close to 100 fish a day in a private lake and most are 1lb smb.  Some 3-4lb but not many of those in there.

 

How does the rod cast?  Good distance?  I upgraded my ultra light stuff for more distance when they start jumping at the hatch in the summer.

Excellent rod as far as workmanship, comfortable cork handle, cast good. I am using 5# Maxima Ultra Green Copolymer with Owner mosquito size 1 hook I always use for finesse spinning. Caught 7 bass between 2 to 3 lbs and lost 2 that shook the loose, 1 close to the boat. 

Making 2x stronger hook sets then with older Phenix finesse rod. Top 12” is under powered imo.

Thanks for the info.  I hope since I am used to the 5' 6" ultra light stuff I can set the hook well enough.  Topwater should be fun and the extra sensitivity for ned rigs might be good also.  I will keep my mind on setting the hooks as strong as I can.

 

Are you planning on keeping yours?  Just curious if you are going to keep using for different things.

I bought for a 6’10” drop shot rod. Will give it a few more tries with more aggressive hooks sets without breaking off.
