I’m having problems with my brand new curado, it seems like somethings up with the anti reverse bearing. I can spin the handle backwards about half inch after reeling forward. I’m trying to get a video uploaded to show what I mean but can’t figure it out yet. I took it apart and cleaned a bunch of the excess grease off and flushed the anti reverse bearing and it’s still doing it. Could it just be a faulty bearing? Any ideas?

Return or get warranty replacement, maybe? Even though you can fix it now it might have chance to happen again, why take unnecessary risk?

Just exchange it since it’s new. FYI 99% it’s just over lubricated abs a flush and light oil will make it right.

Flushed it and didn’t solve the problem. If it’s something simple like a bearing I’d rather just buy a bearing versus spending the money and wasting a few weeks shipping it off and waiting to get it back

I ordered one for a Chronarch 51e off ebay.  Shimano was out at the time.  It was about $15 and took only a few days to get.  Made the reel feel brand new.  

 

I do find it odd that this happening on a new reel.  Like DVT said above, cleaning it and giving it some oil should do the trick.  Since it is moving back a half turn, that means more than just one cylinder is bad, which again is really odd.   I would test it by taking it out and rotaing the bearing both directions on main shift with the sleeve and see if it slips.

half inch, not a half turn. Got a hold of a shimano reel repair man and he said his guess is A/R bearing so he’s sending me one, if that doesn’t fix it I’m sending it it

Check to make sure the handle nut isn't loose.

This is funny, I was dealing with the exact same problem with my curado k. Mike suggested cleaning the AR bearing, and that fixed it right up!

Yeah I tried cleaning it and it seemed to help a little bit but it’s still doing it so I’m guessing one of the rollers in the bearing is probably screwed up, got a new bearing on the way so hopefully it helps

Hopefully! Good luck with it, so far it seems like a solid reel since having figured that out.
