Best SHS Baitcaster under $150?

Featured Replies

Looking for recommendations on baitcasters in the 8 ratio under $150 dollars. Thanks. I prefer Abu but I'm open to all suggestions. 150 is the max I will spend on this, so no Revo Rockets for me. LOL.

What are you going to use it for? Daiwa Tatula, Fuego, Shimano SLX, SLX MGL, Lews Speed Spool. A TON of options in that price range.

Frogging Flipping and bladed baits. Really dig the CA80 by Daiwa looks like a good option. Also looking at the Lew's KVD reel.

What about the Abu Roxani? Know anything about it?

Neat looking specs. Saltwater Japanese reel. Not what I need. Cool reel though.

Lew's website still has Super Duty G listed at a sale price of $144 (shipped), and it's available with 8.3 gears.

To me, it's just a better-built Revo.

Mine's a little extra tricked out - I like a long-pitch handle on the XHF gears.

The latch on Lew's LFS frame palm plate is superior to just about everything.

When I talked to the guy who runs Lew's repairs, he has a soft spot for this reel, also.

I was looking at these. Which one do you have specifically? I'm a specs guy.

Down to Lew's Super Duty, Daiwa Fuego or CA80, Duckett Paradigm and Enigma Ippon or Torch. Thoughts?

@Alex Ball

The first I bought above is 8.3 SDG1XHF - been fishing this reel 4 years and I'm always floored by how it out-casts everything else.

More recently I added a 6.8 SDG1H - but this is the first low-profile baitcaster I liked enough to buy a second of the same model - after trying singles in several different models.

I gave away a spendier dual-brake Lew's to a friend, and sold two centrifugal brake spendier models.

The only other reel that's impressed me this much is Daiwa SV TW, and there's not one at your price.

I'm leaning to the G or the Enigma reels Ippon or Torch. The Orra Winch was my Aha! reel. Got an OrraSX in 6.4 and I'm looking for the 7.1. Best value at the range ever maybe. Several BME anglers still use the Orra Winch. It' awesome. My brother has the G in a 6.8. He loves it. He's a lefty so can't use it myself lol.

Yes Super High Speed. Sorry my background is music and everything is abbreviated. Anything in the 8's under 150 is my goal. Duckett and Enigma are out.The Shimanos in my range have a braking system that is not well received. No Abu's I like there. Lew's, Daiwa and Quantum are the leading options. I feel like I missed somebody. This will be my first non entry level buy. I wanna get it right.
