Fishing right now and just lost a 15+ pounder striped bass. It was pulling my line and all I heard was zzzzzzzzzz. As soon I try to set it….nothing……I’m so sad right now so I came online to feel better. My heart is so broken. I just learned now that if using a bait runner don’t try to set it but just real it in or else the hook is just going to turn and slip right out. Came to the ocean 2 weeks straight no bites at all and when I finally get one huge one it got away due to my inexperience with a bait runner. I learned and will def hook the next one but my heart is so broken.

Tough break, Fishingguy9922, sympathize. Whether fishing or hunting, I've often been in those circumstances, longing, just once, to get a second bite at the apple. All we can do in those circumstances is keep grinding ?

owie - you can't give an edge to a striper - probably the smartest fish we chase, and one of you will be unconscious at the end of the fight.
