Shimano Zodias rod

Featured Replies

I bought a zodias 6'9 light spinning rod last week for my 2500 CI-4 reel.  Love it super nice, caught some small bass on it already it has enough backbone to handle small fish but IMO you need a heavier rod for larger prey.  I think the ci4's are finesse reels so this setup will work for me.  I love light stuff for fishing!

Majority of the time I’m fishing on the light side. ML and Med. rods. Different actions for what I’m throwing.

Heavier and deeper running crankbaits and frog throwing I fish heavier but this is not the majority of time as to how I fish.

I also enjoy using light tackle.

Its makes smaller fish, which is what I mainly catch, fun.

And when you hook into a better fish, you actually have to play it to get it to the boat.

:thumbsup3:  When I quit fishing many years go my line was 4# XL, but the rods weren't as light as today.  It doesn't bother me to fish with an 8 oz. plus (baitcast) reel, but I have to admit that one around 5.5 oz. on a light rod does bring a smile to my face.  :teeth:

Enjoy that excellent spinning combo.  Here's hoping you catch many more with it.  :smile1:

I hookup with 1 - 12 lb stripers occasionally while bass fishing on my 2500 Stradic ci4+ and it handles them easily.

Had to check.  According to Shimano's site there is no 6'9" spinning rod.

But there is one here.  I see the model numbers aren't the same so I am assuming this is the older Zodias model and the one above at the Shimano site is the new model.

Confusing if you aren't a Shimano rod person.  :dontknow:

The shimano site you listed above shows the old model.

I believe there are new models in the Zodias lineup now.

Shimano is not great at updating their website.

I made a mistake in the length of my Zodias rod it's a 6'8" light for sure ordered it from Japan, it's not the older type it's new, Asian Portal has rods no one else has.  I wouldn't mind having a ML but I already have 2 ML in other brands.

You have a ways to go to catch up.  :teeth:  Best get a move on it.  The Bait Monkey wants YOU.  :lol1:
