Table rock

Featured Replies

Going to table rock in a couple weeks, gonna try some fishing there for the first time. Open to trying for large or smallmouth. Looking for some help on what theyd be biting on around now/mid Sept. If it matters, we're staying near Indian Point.

Thanks for the help

There is starting to be a big jig (1oz) bite on gravel points and flats.  It varies.  Sometimes the boat needs to be in 40’ with the fish in 25-30. Sometimes they are shallower.  There’s also been a top water bite.

Two guides: Pete Wenners and Eric Prey have weekly reports.

Watch those guys fishing reports. Don't come with expectations of catching crazy numbers of fish. Lots of pressure on a typically clear water lake makes for tough fishing. Fishing a dropshot next to bridge pilings is about the only sure thing, even better if you get some fat nightcrawlers and drop those instead of plastic, but you have to be okay with multispecies fishing. Usually getting out early and staying out late are best for me this time of year down there. I'm typically with family and pretty much skip fishing the midday as it's usually a tough deal.

Traditionally TR has a late August/early September funk. I personally have not seen much of a jig bite yet and the big worm deal never got really going other than in the brush piles but it should be coming.

So. .You can run the brush piles and pick up a few but you'll look at 10 to find one with a few on it. For me anyway I've had better luck on moving baits. Topwater and squarebills , maybe a swimbait also.

I'd get at least halfway back in the creeks and throw a buzzbait or the plopper until they proved they didn't want it.

If its sunny and slick I would get the ol' James Watson spoon out and pitch docks.
