Grab rails

Featured Replies

I've got an inshore fishing boat I use in FW for bass and the occasional striper in SW, I was thinking of adding some low grab rails but that would mean I would need rod holders that would attach to the rail rather than using the built in ones, any good ones out there? Any other thoughts on why I should or should not add the low grab rails? I am inclined for safety but maybe someone can actually tell me why I shouldnt and if there are good rod holders that attach to rails.

Which boat?

1. Bow rails are needed to prevent falling overboard casting.

The trolling motor needs to be accommodated.

2. You have 18 gunnel rod holders and 8 center console rod holders. To add side rails to aide in entering and exciting the boat pier side requires planning around the gunnel rod holders. Do you also use out riggers?

3. I would think about adding rails mid ship leaving the aft area as is.

Stailess steel tubular rails strong enough to provide safe sturdy hand holds can easily support rail mount rod holders.

I'd come up with some solution that wasn't permanent and used some of those rod holders.

Do you really need rails anywhere but the bow?
