Thinking about a soft case for lots of fishing rods.

I know a secret lake. Well it’s not that secret. It is a PIA to get to.  Bad weather requires 4x4.  Good weather requires good ground clearance.  I usually caravan there with a friend.  We each tote our own kayaks.  I have a friend with too nice of a vehicle to go. he loves his truck and wipes it with a soft diaper when it gets dirty ( I joke).   My rods ride inside after i absent mindedly let them ride in back once. They were so covered in fine dust. I had to rinse them in the lake.

I am thinking of car pooling. Double stack the kayaks in my truck and the rods will have to ride in back.   I think an inexpensive surf board bag might do the trick!!  A longboard bag. Any other ideas?  Something to hold 12 rods.

I would take 2 rods each and put them in a hard case. To much risk that something shifts or drops and you end up with 24 “rods”.

I’m not sure if these are still available ? The guide gear one was the most recent, it’s been a couple years and I believe I found it on sportsman’s warehouse.  It allows me to carry five rods with reels attached up to 7’-6” long with the caveat being there’s no hard protection but they have individual slots so no banging into each other and the Sherpa lining isn’t quite as nice as the 3 combo holder from ready rig. Good luck and hope this helps.

I had a Field & Stream 8’ rod carry bag for several years. Used the bag to carry rods to the boat for salt water trips.

I believe DSG and BPS carry them with their logo in stock.

I have a Flambeau Bazuka Pro that I keep in the back of my truck, keep reels in Plano pistol cases and keep my kayaks on a trailer. It's been good for me. They say it will hold 6 rods without the reels, but I've had probably at least 10, probably 12 in there and no issues. The higher end rods go in the front seat.

Or keep an eye on marketplace for a used Rocketbox. I picked mine up for $75 last year. Either of these require a rack, though.

I have a Cabela's padded soft case that hold 20 rods without reels.

Lol- Only.  There could be 4 people on my boat and there still won't be more than 6-7 rods total...

And I regularly had 10-12 in the canoe.

Hate to think how many rigs I'll be able to get into the F-9 once it's done.

I need to figure out how I'd mount one of these on my truck or trailer.

Kayak trailer? I have a truck ladder rack on my trailer, and my rocketbox is mounted to that.

Yeah I do have a trailer but most of my bar space is in use. I have a tonneau cover on my truck too so that gets in the way of most truck trails. Maybe I'll get a roof rack at some point.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

Well I ended up getting a Yakima rack and roll (mainly because I couldn't buy a utility trailer last year), but I don't have a lot of open bar between the kayaks.

Ah, I see what you're saying, now. There might be enough room to mount a rack, but it'll be tight.
