Jig Prep - Beware of Melt Down

Featured Replies

I have all my jigs pre-made in my Plano organizers.  Maybe I shouldn't. I use Power Baits on numerous jigs as trailers.  Mostly Pit Boss baits.  I just was doing some organization and...CRAP!  All the jigs that had Power Baits near them had the rubber bands on the skirts melting away. Quite the mess.  I'm tying all those skirts with a couple loops of braided line.  All good.  Just a tip.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that some reaction like that occurs. Maybe a chemist can chime in.

Tiny zip tie ?

Plasticizers are what makes a lot of plastics soft. These plasticizers can leach in contact with chemically different plastics.
zman elaztech is very susceptible to this for example.
No way around it.
When in doubt keep your soft plastics in original bags.

I've been using them for 10-12 years now. I buy my from an electronics store, instead of the tag end sticking up they lay flat (horizontal).

Fast, easy, & permanent ?

Forgetting to take off that salty trailer is worse than than messing up a skirt, you can't fix rusty hooks.
