J-Fluoro Samurai vs Tatsu

Featured Replies

I heard a lot of good reviews on the relatively new J-Fluoro Samurai last year. Now that it's been out for a while, I wonder how the long-term reviews are gonna be? Especially compared with Seaguar Tatsu, which IMO is almost perfect in every aspect of performance. I fish rocky bottom mostly. Tatsu has the best abrasion resistance so far, but the price...

I have tried both and both are great lines.  The J-Fluoro is good but not as good as Tatsu.  I would put it somewhere between Invizx and Tatsu.  Its definitely worth a try but from what I have seen,  I wouldn't expect it to hold up as well or as long as Tatsu.   If keep your eyes open, you can often find Tatsu on sale.

I didn’t find either of those lines very good.  I tried tatsu a few years ago and thought it was stretchy and broke off too easily.  I gave  Daiwa a try this years and felt it was not durable and had bad memory.  Both were pulled off my reels after 3-4 trips and replaced with my normal sunline sniper.
I also tried seaguar invizx this fall and have been pleased so far.

I was thinking about changing from Sniper to the Daiwa after some good reviews. Some claim that the Sniper is not as good as it use to be, maybe changed the formula, who knows.

I use Sniper from 10# to 18# and have for years.
They haven’t changed anything as far as I can tell.

Have you bought any lately? I bought some about a year ago and it was great, couldn't see any change.

This past June I bought spools of 14# and 16#.
The others were purchased in January

I have Tatsu, Shooter and J-Fluoro Samurai on two different reels and personally I think the J-Fluoro handles the best of all three. I can't really comment on what's better for longevity, strength or abrasion resistance as I haven't had any issues with any of them yet.

Midway USA has one of those customized promotional sales for each registered user's birthday. Currently it gives me various discounts on different items, and the discount for J-Fluoro Samurai is 40% off.  It's tempting as I'm eager to try it, but I'm also hoping someone else would foot the bill.  So thanks for all the shared reviews and opinions!
