Dobyns Fury 795SB for Muskie?

Featured Replies

Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving!

Curious for anyone that has the Dobyns Fury 795SB for swimbaits and glidebaits: can it also double as a muskie rod?

I wanna get one mostly for throwing swims and glides less than 4oz, but I wanna get into Muskie fishing up here in Minnesota next year and curious if it's stout enough to throw some muskie lures.

Thanks, everyone!

It'll work I a pinch, but it's far from ideal. Definitely underpowered for musky. Conversely, musky rods are a terrible choice for bass swimbait fishing

The 806 SB would be a better choice.

It would be a decent rod for most bucktails. Going to be underpowered for much else though.

Thanks guys! I’ll go with the Fury 806. Same price anyway so I might as well. Appreciate the advice!
