Years ago, when pork rind was popular, it was called a jig and eel. Now, just a jig and craw.

No, Feider’s is just an overambitious crappie jig (marabou).

The original “pig & jig” was a hair jig with pork frog (#11) trailer.

1/4 oz Hair jig with soft plastic would now be called a “finesse jig”. 

Been fishing hair jig (pig&jig) about 65 years now.

I use spinning gear.

15 lb braid main line and a 10 lb FC leader.

I’ve started using spinning gear for anything that’s truly 1/8oz or lighter. (So a Trig plastic with 1/8oz weight doesn’t count).  Just so much less worry and more fun fishing. I don’t have the thumb control or patience on my BC.
And I also really like 10-15lb braid to leader. Can cast these tiny light lures 20-25 yards if I really want to.

I have and fish the 1/4 and 3/8's. 

The slower I fish it the better.

btw - these baits Are Effective All season, not just in the cool or colder water.

i throw hair jigs on spinning gear in colder water temps especially in the spring. most of the time straight black or a dark brown with no trailer.
