WARNING ALARM SYSTEM

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 merc 150hp XR6. Just recently, the little chirp that happens when you turn the key on has stopped. My understanding is that the short "chirp" simply indicates that the alarm system is operable. I'd like to address this without going to the shop where it is very expensive even if you can find someone who can get to your issue in less than a few weeks. Is there a simple fix?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Probably not.  You could check your fuses.  That would be simple and easy.  Otherwise, it could be an issue with the speaker, the wires, the entire alarm system, who knows?  It would take some electronics knowledge to track it down.  It might be a simple fix, but it could take a long time to identify the exact cause of the problem.  That's always the hard part about repairing electronics.  Finding the cause.  If you know the cause, the repair is often pretty simple.

I have an 03 Merc 150 and it doesn't beep when I start it, but I know for sure the alarm system works as I let it get a lil low on oil one time and it went off.

Yes...it does beep when you start up.

1 beep is normal system test.

4 beeps every two minutes is low oil in reservoir.

4 beeps every two minutes water in fuel filter is full.

Continuous: Cooling system problem

Continuous: Oil critically low

Continuous: oil pump

Continuous: RPM max

The alarm horn is inside the remote control box.
