I plan on doing more punching grass and frog fishing the rod I'm looking at is 7'6" heavy mod-fast action..most of my plastic and jig rods are fast or xtra fast what's you all's opinion on mod-fast for this application ?

I’m doing the same this year and did the exact same search. I’m partial to falcon rods and went for an expert amistad. I’ll tell how it is on Tuesday when it gets here. 

It really depends on the rod.  My main criteria is a rod with a lot of backbone and a stout enough upper section to get a strong set and get the fish moving up quickly.  Personally I use an XH/F for punching and either an XH/F or H/F for frogs, depending on the thickness.

I never understand why rods pushed as punching rods were Mod Fast…My guess is with that huge weight which is pegged the bass has a lot of leverage to spit the hook. So a more parabolic rod should keep the fish pinned longer since it’ll take more for that fish to “straighten up” the rod to where it can break loose since there is not as much tension on the line. I don’t punch much but I use a 7’4 H/F. In my eyes it is a true “Fast” rod and works fine. 

Mod fast and braid are a great combination. Doesn't tear a big hole in their mouth as easy and a rod that loads deep into the blank acts like a catapult and does a great job of moving them out of cover.
