Travel Rod/ Shimano Zodias Pack Rod

Featured Replies

In the market for a nice travel rod. I am having a tough time finding good info on the JDM Zodias Pack rod series. Anyone fish these? I am also open to other suggestions.  I have looked at the Daiwa Ardito, St. Croix Triumph Travel, Megabass Valkyrie World Edition, and the Megabass Triza. I would definitely go for the Triza, but it is a 3 piece and would not fit into a carry on, or maybe even a larger checked bag. The Zodias is interesting to me because the folded length would fit in a carry on bag. Would much appreciate any insight that travel rod folks might have.

I looked at these briefly, saw a few YouTube clips of the Zodias 5 piece. From what I saw and read they fish a bit stouter than their one piece models, something to do with the mutli joints I would assume. Interesting rod.

I have the 4 piece St Croix Triumph travel spinning rod. It will fit in my carry on backpack when traveling by plane. I stick it in my suitcase though.

Have not really given much thought at all to telescoping rods, as I had the assumption that the quality was far inferior.

Anyone have any update on this post? Was thinking about the zodias travel set as well but still researching more before I buy.

Is there a significant difference in the spinning and casting models as far as performance? How does the build quality feel?

Thanks!

Diawa Ardito.  I have three, and have no trouble fitting them into the carry on compartment on planes.  I like them so well, that I use them even when I don't need multi piece rods.  When I fish out of my kayak, the only one piece rod I bring is a heavy fast Tatula, and that is only because they don't make a heavy fast, Ardito.
