Can you elaborate on the Silver Max?  I just bought 3 for $29/each.  I thought i might just put them on rods I don't really use much.   I have too many reels anyway and plenty of $300 reels.  I am not expecting anything special at all, just something functional if I might use that rod a couple times per season for short periods.  Thanks

I don’t know what it is about them but I could never get them dialed in and would back lash quite frequently. The Blackmax and Promax I can cast a mile with those but that Silvermax just plain sucked. I know over the years there have been others on here who said the same thing.

Well darn it.  I hope I can at least throw these the couple times per year I might use them.  I wasn’t expecting any refinement at all.  I have reels for that, but I hope I can make these functional.  Thanks 12poundbass, I appreciate the update Bud!!

Believe it or not, Academy brand H20 Express Mettle reels are a 10 bearing, aluminum frame reel that are a very good reel for the money. Only downfall is I think they only come in 6.4:1 ratio. Preferred would be 7 or 8 speed. It would work though and could also cast spinnerbaits or whopper plopper
