Dobyns Champion Extreme HP

Featured Replies

I’ve all but decided on a split grip Dobyns Champion Extreme HP for my next rod…Trying to decide on which length/action to get for a do it all rod…my favorite baits to throw are spinnerbaits and chatterbaits….was thinking the DX703c or DX704c

Go with the 704 - the 4 power Dobyns are equivalent to other manufacturers Medium-Heavy...probably the most versatile rod power out there.

Of my 10 boat-rods, 6 are Dobyns Furys...2 of the remaining rods will be upgraded to Dobyns when I have the spare cash...the last 2 are Okumas because the power/action of those rods aren't available in (affordable) Dobyns lines.

I have and use the 704dx for spinnerbaits, perfect for it imo.

I have both rods you mention, I use the DX 703C for 3/16, 5/16 & 1/4oz. spinnerbaits & the DX 704C for 3/8 oz & above. Both of these rods get the job done.

Went with the 704

Good choice It's a excellent rod. It's very sensitive.

Should go great with the Shimano bantam MGL I ordered as well!

What size spinners and chatters. I have the dx704. The dx744 has a lot more tip than the 704

Mostly 1/2oz

i usually use mine for close quarters pitching from 1/8 baby brush hogs to 1/2 oz jigs. Insanely diverse rod. Lately it’s been in my hand over all my other dx lol

I do not have the DX 704.  The difference between the DX 704 & the DX 744 is the length, the power is the same.  As I said above I use 3/8 OZ & above  but it would not hurt to try a couple of the lighter ones.

Have 11 or 12 Dobyns rods .. 4 power I have Champ 744dx, Champ 734xp, Sierra 684 , Kaden 610 4 cb ,

Love them all but the Dx is … well it’s Dx lol.

I really can’ t wait to get the Kaden 610 4 cb out as haven’t fished it yet .

744 would've been a much better, more versatile option. It has a softer tip compared to the stiffer 704. I consider the 704 more of a jig/worm rod.
