Hey everyone,

 

Just bought my first high end rod. The tip guide isn't in line with the rest of the guides. The problem is minor and almost certainly cosmetic but it is driving me nuts. I have $50 rods with straight guides.

 

Am I making too much of this?

 

Please.... (the rod isn't readily available, especially where I live so exchanging it is unfortunately out of the question.)

You're in luck! The tip guide is the easiest fix! Heat up with a lighter or some other heating device. It'll get malleable enough to move and get in line with the rest of the guides. Let it sit for a bit to settle.

The rod is new and you are unhappy with the top guide alignment. Take it back to where you bought the rod and ask for a exchange. 

Heating the rod tip takes some skill not to damage the blank, the rod thread wrap coating, if applicable.

What rod is it specifically?  It might help....

It was the only one in stock so I'm trying to convince myself to just keep the rod. It is a 6'3" rod and I can't seem to find many of those kicking around. I love the length and action. I maybe I could use the warranty to fix it just before it runs out or something.

Megabass Carbon Head Elliminater.

Most mom & pop tackle shops can fix the tip guide or know someone who can. The cost is usually minimal around $5 tip.

Check with Megabass first regarding your warranty just to be sure. They might disallow the warranty if someone alters it.
