After going pretty stir crazy this winter stuck in MA, I'd like to look into a trip next winter somewhere in FL where the primary reason would be LM fishing.  Figuring I'd need to use a guide service and maybe rental as I wouldn't be lugging a boat with me. Can anyone make a recommendation for a good town, lake, or guide, I can look into? Thanks

From Seminole and St Johns River in the north. 
Kissimmee and Harris Chains, Rodman, Sick Marsh, Headwaters in the middle, and of course Okeechobee and Everglades farther south.

I will throw out an idea.  Right next to Universal studios in Orlando is Turkey Lake.  It is part of the Orlando Parks Department.  It is a private lake that BPS supplies with Tracker Boats with T/M's and depth finders.  These are the only boats allowed on the lake.  Rental is a half day for about $30.  When going to a convention, I always rent at least one day and have always caught good numbers up to 6 pounds.  It is a fun day from first light to noon, and you can't beat the price.  Other members can go to the park while your fishing.  They even rent tackle if you need it.  I have never seen a better deal anywhere in the country.  The lake has plenty of bass.  Reservations are a must, and fill up weeks in advance.  If you decide to go I have a bunch of info I can give you.

When you get your trip details figured out, give me a shout.  I cover Central and South Florida with Guide Services.  Even if you don't need a guide and are going on your own, I provide up to date fishing reports to anyone who asks.

If you’re coming down to Orlando you can also try Wekiva Island on the Wekiva River in Longwood, FL. They have canoe, kayak and paddleboard rentals and there is pretty good fishing on the Wekiva River. If you get near Wekiva Springs the water is very clear and you will see some really big bass. 

Sean Rush. Best guide in the state of Florida based on bass caught over 8lbs & submitted to the state. He had 5 bass over 13lbs in his boat last season. Only fishes live bait & mainly guides out of Rodman Reservoir. You must book months in advance.

Are you able to bank fish turkey lake? I live by lake Lorna Doone in downtown Orlando so this is close for me. 

Yes you can bank fish anywhere on the park side of the lake:  they have several fishing piers that extend out into the lake.  Caught a big one on the south west side from the bank.

Just looked at their website and it states "All lake activities closed until further notice" Any insite when it might open back up?
