New Daiwa tatula 80 vs New tatula 70 sv

Featured Replies

Someone please enlighten me on...

Why Daiwa would release a 80 size and 70 size reel at the same time?

Why would you buy the 80 when the 70 comes with the SV spool plus a nicer thumb bar for 30 dollars more?

I don't follow Daiwa much anymore, so I'm interested in knowing more about these two reels.

Main difference is the SV Spool/Button and the additional price.

Is the 70 a smaller frame size? making it easier to palm. I'm primarily a Shimano guy, so I don't know the ins and outs of Daiwa.

No more SV spools for me, yuck so if I was to buy Id buy the 80.

I’ve kind of come to a similar conclusion... unless I need a reel to skip a lure... I’ve converted mostly to Tatula Elites for the extra distance.

The SV boost in the Zillion G is a different animal though. Not much in common with standard SV types. There's nothing choked off about it at all.

SV spools can be easily modified if you're wanting to pick up distance.  Swap the inductor spring with a TD-Z Type R+ spring, it's a $3 part.  The spring is stiffer so it will take a higher RPM to get the inductor to move into the magnet assembly.

Yeah done went that route with SV105 added ZPI bearings as well. Also just got one of the sds customs shallow spools to swap into it.
