Finesse rods

Featured Replies

What’s up everyone I’ve been reading articles on this website for years and love the wealth of knowledge and experience on this website. That being said I have a question I have a 6 ml spinning rod taking up space that I bought just to have in the truck incase I pass a pond or creek I’ve been getting into lake fishing more over the past few years and would love to bring this rod but I don’t know what kind of bait to throw on it, I was thinking it might be good for throwing senkos under docks but I don’t know does anyone use a rod like this and if so what do you throw on it.

I have two 7' ML rods. Both have different weight ratings. A Shimano Intenza that's 1/8-1/2oz and the other is a Daiwa Rebellion that is 1/16-3/8oz.

The Shimano is closer to a medium in power. I use it for mojo rigs in submerged grass flats. I've also used it to throw weightless wacky rigs.

The Daiwa I use for ned rigs, light bucktails, etc. Mostly for smallmouth bass.

I think under docks you'd want a bit more power to pull the fish out. Depends on the size of fish in your parts I suppose.

You can match it up to a 1000-2000 reel with 6-8 lb mono, and throw small things, or 8-10 lb braid, with or without an 8-whatever lb leader, and do a lot of things with it for bass as well as other things.

It probably wouldn’t be my preferred rod for wacky rigs and docks, but I don’t how the rod acts so I can’t say that for certain. However, I think it would be great for ned rigs, small swimbaits on ballheads and in-line spinners to name a few.

Thanks everyone for the replies I’ll keep all that in mind

What reel and line do you have with this 6’ ML and what action; fast or moderate?

Can’t skip lures under docks without a boat.

ML spinning rods are good for nearly all finesse lures/presentations.
