Heartbreaker!

Fished a federation tournament yesterday as a co-angler on Mansfield Hollow here in CT titled "Mr. B.A.S.S". This tournament is one of the ways to qualify secure a spot on the CT State Team to compete at the regionals for 2023. Top boater and top co-angler from this tournament secure a spot on the State team.

Tough overall day of fishing for everyone, but I was able to snag a decent limit from the back of the boat on a neko and a texas rig. After hearing the livewell's running on auto and the fish flopping around most of the day, I didn't bother check the livewells for the last few hours like I usually do (also because I didn't catch a fish for the last few hours). Unfortunately sometime during the early afternoon, my boaters livewell pumps decided to stop working, and 4 of my fish died along with all of his fish.

With a 2 pound penalty for my dead fish (half pound per dead fish), i came in 2nd place and lost by .05 pounds. Just an unlucky and overall crap situation for the fish, and the tournament result. Not sure how much we could have done for the fish even if we noticed the pumps not working properly earlier on. I'll have one more chance to make the 2023 State team in October with a two-day tournament on Candlewood Lake. Top 5 anglers from boater side and top 5 anglers from co-angler side make the team.

Wow that’s too bad!

Its happened to me a time or too but I learned the hard way..

Since as a co angler we stand on the boxes I always make it a point now to check that switch is still on, listen for the pump or take a peek inside every time we move.

no excuses and I usually am checking periodically, but we were locked on a few fish that were on beds and so much focus went into that in the two or so hours. from now on i'm sure i'll be checking every 10 minutes ?

I've had livewell issues cost me big time before too... It's the worst...
