Deep Crankbait Reel Recommendations?

Featured Replies

I’m big on slower speed reels with cranking. You work the bait more effectively, into and off of cover, your less likely to pull it away from fish, you also don’t have to slow down. It’s easier for me mentally to speed up than slow down. Especially in cold water you want it crawling. Also when you fish baits that float faster than others like DTs when you pause off bumping a object let it rise quick then start going you want that thing to dive right back down to the other side of the cover not a couple feet past it. Have no idea how much cranking you do so just some input above for MY reasons. Hopefully it helps. ??

btw if you do ever get the 5:1 it comes with a 100mm handle with giant knobs. I don’t like them. I ordered the replacement handles from shimano for the XG, 90mm with the normal knobs they’re like $15 each or something. I

Yea you convinced me so I went ahead an ordered the 5:1 off another site that had 3 in stock. I cancelled my order for the 6.2:1 on TW. We will see how I like it!

Where did you get the 100mm handle from. Wonder if they have something like that, that would work for the Shimano Curado K I just ordered.

Yea I'm sure there are still plenty of guys using them, I was just saying I couldn't find any off hand.

The site was from a seller in Ukraine and he had an on eBay store.

When anyone adds the XD10 deep diver 25” weighing nearly 2 oz the rod needs to be dedicated or a swim bait rod. 8” 6 power rod crank bait rods will wear you out.

I ordered the Dobyn’s 805 which is definitely suited for the 6XD. I know the guys at Tactical Bassin say it will throw the 10XD just fine though. That said, I know the 806 was specifically designed for the 10XD
