Back 2 Basics

Featured Replies

Been struggling for fish as of late. Smallies aren't biting anything I throw at em. Plastics just don't seem to work like they were, for bass or anything else. I've got probably 3-4hundred dollars worth of lures/gear/hooks, and today I decided that I'm just gonna be using live worms for a while. And it worked!

Nabbed a handful of bluegill and panfish, and couple bass, and overall had a really fun day at the pond.

I think sometimes I get so caught up in picking the right lure for the right fish/water/temp/location, that I forget how easy it actually is to catch fish. Sure. I didn't catch any records. I don't normallly anyway. But I had a lot of fun, and that's what makes fishing great.

So if you're struggling for fish, maybe stop trying so hard. Grab a handful of worms, a bobber, and some splitshot and go drop a line in the pond.

Sounds good to me!

Few weeks ago I saw a bunch of bluegill and very small bass off my Dad's dock. They'd follow my bait but not commit. Just curious I guess. I love how they follow the bait until it stops, then they just stare at it, like 3 or four of them. Frickin BITE you little #^%$!!!!!!!

They're always there in the summer. Kinda wish I had some worms that day. I'd get 'em every cast.

It's like you gotta take a step back and look around. "Hey, there's trout in this lake, bluegill, smallies, they're all fun. and who says I have to use fake lures?"

One of my most fun days fishing was surf fishing with bass gear for Perch. Me and a friend had a contest and he beat me 13 - 12. That was a blast. I'd never done it before, we ran around, talkin smack to each other, made a video. Great day. No bass.

Hmm...

Way too boring for me, I would concentrate on another lure option rather

than settle for panfish.

I've had plenty of days when a bluegill or redear kept the skunk away.

Or even a pike up here.

Some times it’s what you have to do

I throw a Beetle Spin. Guaranteed to catch fish every time. Big bream are fun.
